Who We Are
At Nous we believe in the need to bring together the fundamental and the practical while solving any problem. And our experience has been that in most situations it is indeed possible for this blend to happen. The other belief that guides our work is the need for multiple perspectives and convergence. For too long, we have tended to view both the problems and solutions from sectoral perspectives of the state, market and civil society. At Nous, we believe in combining these perspectives and thus arriving at a more complete understanding and a more wholesome solution.
Guided by the above beliefs, Nous Consultants has been formed as a fraternity of development experts with experience of having worked with civil society, academia, corporate and government.
And a final core belief for us is towards following processes and arriving at outcomes that ensure maximum client ownership. We work with our clients closely so that they own both the analysis and the solution.
The philosophical and archaic meaning of the word ‘nous’ is ‘an intelligent & purposive principle of the world’ or ‘the apprehension of eternal intelligible substances and first principles’. Interestingly, the modern day meaning of the word has become ‘practical intelligence or common sense’.
We, at Nous Consultants, bring together both these dimensions in our work – the eternal and the practical; first principles and good judgement – leading to the combination and creation of possibilities which rest on the intersections of sectors, cultures, philosophies.
For too long, we have tended to view the problems and solutions of building a better world from siloed perspectives of the state, market and civil society. While that approach may have worked in yesterday’s world, it is not going to help us in tomorrow’s world.
Guided by the above belief, Nous Consultants has been formed as a fraternity of development experts with experience of having worked with civil society, academia, corporate and government.
Above all else, we enjoy working on solutions which move seamlessly across sectors and which have the potential to release wider positive multipliers in society.
